Edmonton Earth Day celebrations
Earth Day (April 22) is a day of celebrating the greatness of Mother Nature and a day to be kind to the planet. There are many, many ways to celebrate Earth Day and honor the greatest planet in the universe.
Earth Day has been celebrated since 1970 and after all of these years, its mission remains the same: draw attention to the state of the world, because each year we’re depleting resources and damaging the environment. Even if it’s only for one day, one action makes a difference.
Here are 5 things to consider for this year’s Edmonton Earth Day celebrations:
1. Leave the car at home
While you may have just gotten a new car from Great Western Chrysler, plan on finding an alternate route to work or activities. An alternative would be to check out our hybrid models, which are better for the environment.
2. Take a shower instead
Rather than drawing a bath, consider taking a shower. This simple act saves more than 20 gallons of water. If you already shower, consider skipping this daily routine in the name of the environment.
3. Pay bills online
Although many people already do this as a matter of convenience, paying bills and viewing statements online saves paper, stamps and other natural resources. Switch your accounts to paperless billing on Earth Day.
If you really want to make a difference and take part of the world-wide celebration of Mother Earth, consider volunteering to cleaning up a local park or neighborhood, or plant a tree in your yard. Anything helps.
5. Update your light bulbs
All of these ideas are small changes you can make in your daily routine, which can actually be more impactful in the bigger picture. Another easy way to make a difference this Earth Day is to change your light bulbs to energy-saving fluorescents. Replacing the bulbs in your home can save you more money on your electricity bill, too.
