July Wrap-up

Holy Moly is the summer ever moving fast. Last time I checked it wasn’t even mid-June, and then I blinked and we’re already celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday (July 31st) with a brand new bit of HP content (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). But here we are, we’re already half way through Edmonton’s favorite season. July is a big month for Edmontonians, besides the fact that it’s usually the only month we get with decent weather, it’s a month jam packed with things to do.

While there’s still plenty of time to cruise down Whyte Ave with the top down in your 2016 Dodge Dart (verify if top actually goes down), summer is slowly but surely coming to an end.

With that, here are a few things that happened during the month of July in out July Wrap-up.

  • Canada Day –

Could we really start any other way? Canada day is a great way to kick off summer. A day of fun runs, pancake breakfasts at the Ledge grounds, and hot dogs capped off with a beautifully choreographed display of fireworks.

  • Street performers –

A personal favorite of mine. It’s a great mix of fun in the sun, great food truck food (I’m partial to the homemade Root Beer), and some truly spectacular performances from people from around the globe. It’s a great place for a date, or to bring the kids, or to come alone and stand next to people and pretend to be with them (trust me, they will not notice at all).

  • Taste of Edmonton –

Pretty much all of the great things that happened in Edmonton over the summer has something to do with Winston Churchill square. Who can blame them? It’s centrally located, LRT adjacent, and parking isn’t all that bad, while also being very kid friend with a wading pool located inside the ground (not just for kids, people don’t even get mad anymore if you dive if with most of your clothes on).

  • K-Days –

A local summer staple. A crowd favorite. This Edmonton institution is something that many look forward to every year. While for me, rides tend to take a back seat (I don’t have the stomach for it in my old age), the food is to die for. There’s nightly performances, everything from music shows to magic acts and even a hypnotist. It’s something I look forward to every year that I also enjoy. I can’t help but indulge in a little over/under, but what can I say, I’m only human!

  • Pokemon Go –

The month of July saw the birth of a worldwide phenomenon. One that has capture the attention of pretty much everyone with a smart phone that isn’t over the age of 45 (and even some who are, god bless ‘em). You can catch our previous blogs, where we talked about the BEST and WORST Pokemon to take on a road trip. For now, enjoy the rest of your somewhere trying to catch ‘em all.

  • 2017 Acura MDX –

AcuraMDX 2017

Acura saw the arrival of the all-new Acura MDX. It’s the SUV to change the way we look at Sports, and Utility, and Vehicles. It’s a vehicle that offers the next level of luxury and technology.

  • 2017 Honda Ridgeline –

July also saw the reintroduction of of the Honda Ridgeline, a powerful, muscular truck that pans to shake up the pickup truck vehicle class. A vehicle class that is not easily disrupted, partially in Alberta.
