Chrysler wouldn’t be so relevant in the marketplace today if the company weren’t such a great innovator. Throughout its history Chrysler has been helping to push the industry forward and that achievement is absolutely worthy of recognition. The company has been famous for being known as the “engineer’s” car manufacturer, and since then many of its innovations have been replicated by other industry leaders. For example:
- In 2007 – Exhaust braking for Class 3-5 trucks
- In 2008 – The world’s first rear cross path accident avoidance system
- In 2013 – The first AWD system with rear-axle disconnect, offering better mileage
And the company is still at it today. It’s not hard to notice, either, with Chrysler coming out with new vehicles that continue to redefine customer expectations. So here we go: these are the most innovative modern Chrysler vehicles today, standing as monuments to achievement.
the iconic Chrysler 300C
The latest in a pedigree of champions, the 300C is the pinnacle of driving excitement and, as few of us know, fuel economy in a luxury vehicle. Launched in 2005, the 300C was a big deal for the automotive industry because it brought auto manufacturing back to America. The 300C was also big for the company because it utilized an innovative Multidisplacement System (MDS) to get the engine running on only four cylinders when the vehicle requires less power. This has a great effect on fuel consumption, helping the 300C achieve 16 L/100 km city and 10 L/100 km highway fuel economy. And to take full advantage of the power of 340 hp (today 360 hp) and 390 lb-ft of torque, the 300C can reengage all eight cylinders and push them to the limit.
The HEMI engine includes a pushrod induction tube that increases fuel efficiency as well with air being “pulled and pushed” into the engine’s induction area. And to increase fuel efficiency even more, the 300C uses two spark plugs per cylinder for a more efficient fuel/air mixture burn. The Chrysler 300C has been a shining example of Chrysler innovation, and for that it deserves our recognition.
the chrysler 200
The Chrysler 200 is definitely worthy of being on this list despite is being recently discontinued, and here’s why: it introduced an auto park feature that makes busy city life so much simpler, featuring push-button activation, sonar sensing and self-guiding technologies. It also pioneered a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission allows for seamless transitions on the road as you drive. On top of that, additional features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Assistance and Crash Prevention were standard for both convenience and safety, and all this made the 200 one of the most technologically advanced vehicles on the market. We’re ecstatic to see what Chrysler will replace the 200 with in the coming years. And speaking of the coming years…
the 2018 chrysler pacifica
A minivan is a lifesaver for a lot of families. The new Pacifica is a lifesaver for those families looking for an actually modern minivan that isn’t defined purely by tradition. The new Pacifica has done something very few minivans have been able to accomplish lately: making the minivan beautiful and compelling once again. It’s curvaceous, luxurious (with leather available) and truly a delight for the family. It represents Chrysler’s rethinking of the minivan, and it’s the company’s reintroduction of the minivan into the industry. And it still retains all of the best elements of the successful minivans before it…
A spacious cabin, roomy third row and ample cargo area are all here, and so too is one of the discontinued Town & Country’s best features: Stow ‘n Go Seating, with the third- and second-row seats folding down nicely. This turns the Pacifica from an eight-seater into a two-seater and makes it perfectly capable of carrying 4-by-8 sheets of drywall.
An intuitive touchscreen interface and rear-seat entertainment system make for an engaging experience with the Pacifica and all the latest advanced driver aids are here too, including blind-spot monitoring.
The Pacifica is one of the latest in Chrysler technological feats, and it, along with the Chrysler 200 and 300, especially, will drive the industry forward in its own way. We look forward to the future of Chrysler and to updating this list for you!
