We know your children’s safety is of topmost concern in your family-oriented vehicle, and FCA has a host of technologies that will keep them safe. From child safety seats to a multitude of airbags to lock and window technology, you’ll find some of the best in Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles. Learn from us at Great West Chrysler all that some of these important child safety technologies can do!
LATCH Child Safety Seat System
One of the primary draws for FCA minivans like the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Pacifica are their comfortable and adaptable seating options, and the LATCH child seat anchor system. LATCH stands for Low Anchors and Tethers for Children, which is designed for simple ease-of-use when tethering car seats to the vehicle’s seats. This occupant restraint technology is stable and secure, so you can be sure that your children will be riding in safety with their car seat anchored. The combination of this system and car seats keep both the child’s brain and spinal cord in place by reducing the amount of movement in the event of a collision.
Once upon a time, there were only front airbags in vehicles, leaving the rear passengers more susceptible to collision damage. In modern vehicles, many airbag technology advancements have been made to not only improve airbags, but the amount deployed in a vehicle upon impact. FCA has all-row, full-length side-curtain airbag technology, which extends across the side of the vehicle, providing more uniform protection. Front airbags might assist in frontal collisions, but side impacts saw little protection before the implementation of these new style of curtain airbags. As your children will predominantly be sitting in the rear of your vehicle, these side airbags provide additional peace-of-mind protection that they will be cradled in safety.
Lock and Window Technology
Unfortunately, you can’t always know what your kids are getting up to in the rear seats when you’re driving, but FCA has technologies to help ensure their safety if they’re fiddling around. Child protection rear door locks adjust a lever opposite the door jamb in the rear doors to disable the inside release. This makes sure your kids aren’t able to open the door at inappropriate times (such as while the vehicle is moving). Auto-reverse windows do exactly that, automatically reverse when there’s an obstruction in its way from shutting, whether it be a child’s arm or anything else. Lock and window safe technology will ensure safety around your child, even if you don’t have eyes on them.
