As an alternative to the standard cab configuration you would get with any other Ram model, the Chassis Cab for the Heavy-Duty models are available for those who need a different level of towing and hauling. Available in 3500, 4500, and 5500 models, the Ram Chassis Cab was built for heavy-duty applications and can tackle a larger set of applications than the already potent 1500. So what’s the Chassis Cab capable of? Take a look below to find out.
A Strong Frame
Thanks to the strong frame of its flatbed, Ram Chassis Cab trucks gives you endless possibilities when it comes to upfitting. Its steel rear frame gives you the potential for a bigger upfit as it can handle up to 50,000 PSI, giving you the possibility to carry everything in just one trip. As well, you can combine it with the available best-in-class maximum Dual Alternator, giving an output of 440 amps for the best upfit performance possible.
Tow And Haul The Impossible
The biggest differentiator between the Chassis Cab Ram trucks and the regular cab heavy-duty Ram trucks come from not just the removed bed, but from the added power it has as well. With the new 2019 Ram Chassis Cab, you get best-in-class performance everywhere it counts. For starters, its Gross Combined Weight Ratings (GCWR) goes up to 43,000 (19,504 kg) on the 5500 models if you combine it with the class-exclusive 6.7L Cummings® Turbo Diesel engine. Additionally, Chassis Cab Ram models also give you incredible torque that’s up to 800 lb-ft with the 6.7L Cummings® engine and up to 429 lb-ft with the 6.4L HEMI V8® engine.
Durable Long-Term Performance
While it may feel like you only have to take your truck into the dealership for servicing every once in a while, the maintenance intervals for Ram Chassis Cab trucks feel like forever. Another best-in-class feature of the Chassis Cab models come from their recommended oil change intervals, letting you drive your truck freely within 16,000 km for gas engines and up to 19,600 km for diesel engines. This means all you have to focus on is getting the job done without all the lag time in-between.
