The Evolution of RAM: The TRX

Ram was first introduced in 1981 as a 1980 model year vehicle. It was redesigned to take over the Dodge D series nameplate. The truck, since its inception, has gone through many revolutionary changes. Ram became an independent nameplate approximately ten years ago; however, all we can remember is that it was called a Dodge Ram. Fast forward, and FCA and Chrysler agree to a merger, and Ram again goes through some more changes. This time the truck that everyone knew as a Dodge Ram becomes the enviable Ram.

Not only did the name change, but Ram also took the time to understand what exactly truck customers wanted-improving drivability, capability, and luxury. As a back to back winner of Motor Trend Truck Of The Year, it is evident that Ram has the right recipe. At Great West Chrysler, we have a vast selection of Ram pick-up trucks that are sure to fulfill your needs.

Enter the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. Dodge has been venturing out and offering the 700+ horsepower Hellcat engine in many of its models. The legendary Ram truck seemed like the next viable choice. A 6.2-litre V-8 with a powerful supercharger bolted on top. The powerful V-8 is not the only special part of the 2021 Dodge Ram Rebel TRX.

2021 Ram TRX in Edmonton

The Ram TRX, which is the short form for T-Rex, has been teased as the ultimate Ram for quite some time. A Hellcat V-8 powered half-ton pick-up is definitely on its way, as a concept based on the previous generation Ram 1500 has been spotted. Ram trucks themselves have announced the arrival of the most powerful Ram ever this summer. Expectations are that it will go on sale in the first half of 2021 to residents of Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Devon, Stony Plain, and Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

The 2021 Dodge Ram Rebel TRX will be loosely based off the Ram Rebel currently for sale. The Rebel is considered Ram's high-tech, a rugged, off-road pick-up truck. Currently equipped with a V-6 or available 5.7 litre Hemi V-8, it is unimaginable what a supercharged 6.2-litre V-8 engine will create. This engine currently produces anywhere between 707 to 717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The traditional pushrod is paired to an 8-speed automatic. The TRX is expected to feature an increased ride height, chunkier all-terrain tires, more rugged fenders. The suspension set up will most definitely be beefed up with a more capable rear axle and longer travel shocks.

The TRX: Rugged Interior

Ram is producing half ton pick up trucks with interiors that typically don't belong in a truck. Rich materials and an incredibly quiet interior add to the intrigue of the Ram. The TRX is expected to continue this theme; however, it will add a sportier treatment and some carbon-fibre accents. The current generation Rebel is offered in an extended cab or a roomy crew cab, this is likely to be the case with the TRX. Look to see two bed size configurations; 6-foot-4-inch and 5-foot-7-inch. This will allow you to carry all the cargo you need and up to five occupants.

Connectivity and Safety

Currently, you can find a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen that is placed horizontally on the dash or an optional 12.0-inch touchscreen that sits vertically. These two infotainment systems will most definitely support Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. An upgraded and more powerful sound system is also anticipated, most likely Harman Kardon.

There are no reports of any crash test ratings, however, if the current generation Ram is any indication, the TRX will score high with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To increase the safety of the TRX, a plethora of driver-assistance technologies will be offered. The 2021 Ram Rebel TRX price has not been announced; however, at Great West Chrysler, we encourage you to contact us for all the latest information regarding the TRX or any upcoming vehicle offered by Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, and Ram.

Please keep in mind the information above is only preliminary as the production version is yet to be released.
