2019 Dodge Challenger vs. 2019 Ford Mustang
If you’re looking for a sports car, you want something with power, handling, and incomparable performance. The legendary Dodge Challenger has long been one of the iconic muscle cars and it provides everything a high-performance driver could ask for. But does it still stack up against its biggest competitor? How does the Challenger fare when squared against the latest generation of the Ford Mustang?
Great West Chrysler is here to put the best the Challenger has to offer, to the test.

The 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350® is a fine, high-end muscle car. The comparably-priced 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT® Hellcat, though, out-muscles it in virtually every regard. The bigger, supercharged V8 engine in the Hellcat leaves the Shelby in the dust, with an astounding 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. Even more impressive is the fact this Challenger thunders past the Ford Mustang on raw power, while still offering better fuel economy, thanks to that 8-speed automatic transmission! Granted, a lot of high-performance drivers might prefer the manual transmission offered up by the Mustang. Fortunately, the Challenger is happy to oblige that preference, offering an optional 6-speed manual transmission for those who like to be more hands-on with their gear shifting.
When it comes to creature comforts, both automobiles don’t skimp, but the Challenger offers a little bit more. Things like heated front seats and steering wheel come standard in the Hellcat, but will cost you more in the Shelby. While beauty is subjective, we think the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT® Hellcat is also just the more attractive automobile. We took design cues from the Challengers of the past to create a look that is modern, but classic.
You don’t need to go all-out to get all-out performance either. The 2019 Dodge Challenger SXT isn’t a supercharged monster like the Hellcat, but it’ll still dominate any road you put it on—and it all starts at just $33,345. The team here at Great West Chrysler would be happy to book you a test drive, so you can challenge the Challenger for yourself.
