2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV vs 2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime in Edmonton

Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) are becoming more popular as a sustainable solution while still able to use gas in a pinch. The new 2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV and Toyota RAV4 Prime are excellent examples of what these vehicles can offer. Compare the two models and look at their performance, design, technology, and safety features.

Performance Features

There’s a slight difference between their power, with the Toyota model’s horsepower being higher by 14 horsepower. However, this isn’t a major difference. This Toyota really shines with its fuel efficiency and driving range, which is significantly better than the Dodge model. However, attention is in the details, so the performance isn’t the only factor we check.

2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV Performance Features

2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime Design Elements

Design Elements

The Hornet PHEV has seven exterior colours and two interior ones. However, while the Toyota vehicle boasts 10 colours, they’re all shades of white, silver, grey, or black. The only other colour available is Supersonic Red with a Black Roof. It has three interior options and a power moonroof.

The Dodge model boasts the iconic Hornet design with a more rounded and delicate exterior. The RAV4 Prime is closer to the traditional SUV design, with a square nose and two large grilles. Both have 18-inch alloy wheels but with Graphite for the Dodge.

Technology and Infotainment Features

The technology is where Dodge’s PHEV shines. It boasts a 10.25-inch infotainment centre. Its cluster gauge is a 12.3-inch full-colour display, unlike the Toyota model, which has a 7.0-inch multi-information display.

Both have an audio system with six speakers. However, the Hornet PHEV upgrades it to a Harman Kardon premium system boasting a subwoofer and 15 speakers with its R/T Plus trim. Both models are compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Driver Assistance Features

The RAV4 Prime has the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. As such, it includes Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, and Dynamic Rader Cruise Control, among other features. It also has the Star Safety System, which includes Smart Stop Technology.

Plenty of safety and driver assistance features appear in the Dodge model. These systems include Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection and Forward Collision Warning. It also boasts ParkSense, ParkView, and Electric Park Brake with Auto Hold.
