Making such a radical change to a well-loved model can be risky, but the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger REx promises to be a stunning addition to the EV market. Ram has not released the trims that will be available, but they will likely closely follow the current Ram 1500 lineup.
Notable Changes From the Previous Year
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger REx is a new vehicle, so there is no previous year with which to compare.
Infotainment and Technology Features
The driver will have all the relevant vehicle data displayed on a 12.3-inch LCD cluster alongside entertainment and navigation information. Along the dash will be the massive 14.5-inch infotainment display running UConnect 5. This vertically oriented screen will provide enough real estate to display all the electrical information alongside the entertainment and navigation options. The front passenger has been included, and an optional 10.5-inch screen will display entertainment and navigation.
With the drivetrain based on electrical power, electrical information must be displayed on the centre console. This information includes key information on items such as range, energy flows, and battery condition. The data is updated in real-time, and the 3D colour graphics make it easy to understand.
The Ramcharger will also use smartphones as a key-replacement technology. Leave your keys and fobs at home and use your iPhone, Apple Watch, or other Apple devices to manage the functions of the key and fob.
Exterior Design
The Ramcharger will be as handsome and stylish as its gas-powered cousin. The elegant LED lighting sets off a modern facia, and the elegant lines continue to the load bed. No colour palette has been released, but it will likely follow the current Ram 1500 palette closely. The smart new wheel designs released for 2025 will be found on the Ramcharger.
Interior Comfort and Cargo Space
The Ram 1500 has long been a class leader in cabin comfort, and the range-topping Tungsten trim takes this comfort to another level. Though no trims have been released, the photographs show a luxurious cabin with knurled metal trims, premium leather-covered surfaces and plenty of storage.
Performance Features
The drivetrain is the big talking point for the new 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger REx. The Ramcharger sports a 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar motor alongside a 92-kWh battery. The drive is done via a 238kW electric drive module on the front axle and a 238kW electric drive module on the rear axle. There’s also an electronic rear differential lock.
This vehicle differs from the standard hybrid in that there is no direct drive from the 3.6-litre engine to the wheels. All the drive comes from the electric drive modules. The sole purpose of the gas-powered engine is to drive the 130 kW generator that charges the battery to provide the energy to drive the eclectic drive
With the 102.2-litre fuel tank filled, Ram has stated that the targeted range is 1,110 kilometres, the targeted payload is 1,179 kg, and the targeted towing capacity is 14,000 lbs. As no production vehicle is available, these figures are quoted as targeted until the production vehicle data is available.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Like its gas-powered cousin, the Ramcharger sports over 100 standard and optional safety and driver assistance features. These include Active Lane Management to keep the vehicle safely within its lane, Evasive Steering Assist to avoid frontal collisions and Intersection Collision Assist which scans intersections for possible hazards.
Hands-Free Active Driving Assistance combines adaptive cruise control with lane management and hands-free technology to permit hands-free driving. This driving mode, with minimal input from the driver, is only available on pre-mapped roads.
One Pedal Driving Mode assists with braking by using the regenerative braking system to slow the vehicle’s speed while recharging the battery. This maximizes efficiency and reduces the wear on components such as brake pads.
