Notable Changes From the Previous Year
Ram has given the 1500 a facelift, among other upgrades for 2025. The most significant change is the dropping of the HEMI V8 in favour of an inline six with twin turbos. The exterior styling has made the truck look more modern and stylish, with chic lighting, wheel designs and a fresh, new colour palette.
The interior has been remembered, and there’s a new, larger infotainment screen. The new 12.0-inch or optional 14.5-inch display screens are exceptional, and there’s an optional 10.3-inch passenger display screen.
The Ram 1500 has enjoyed an enviable reputation for comfort and luxurious finishes in the range-topping models. For 2025, the new Tungsten trim brings a whole new meaning to luxury in a full-size truck cabin. Infotainment and Technology Features
Ram trucks have always enjoyed fantastic infotainment and connectivity features. The Uconnect 5 infotainment runs on a 12.0-inch or optional gigantic 14.5-inch touchscreen and features such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. An optional 10.3-inch screen, running navigation and entertainment, can be fitted for passengers. The driver has a 12.3-inch LCD for vehicle data and navigation.
The Ram 1500 has long been acknowledged as a completed tow vehicle, and the Trailer Auto Hitch Assist technology makes towing much easier. This fantastic system will drive the truck onto the trailer hitch while the driver only has to manage the throttle and brake.
The additional technology available in the Ram 1500 is exciting. The compatibility of the iPhone and Apple Watch means using digital keys instead of carrying car keys or fobs. Leave them at home and use a digital key to run your truck.
Exterior Design
The 2025 Ram 1500 retains the Crew-Cab and Quad-Cab configurations with 6’ 4” or 5’ 7” beds and two or four-wheel drive. The Quad-Cab is only available in the Tradesman and Big Horn trims. The multifunction tailgate has been retained with a new power lift and lower function.
The bed is fitted with a 2kWh inverter and two 110-volt outlets. This means you can run any appliance directly from your truck. Work tools or conveniences, such as a kettle, can be easily plugged in without worrying about flattening the battery. A safety shut-off ensures this will never happen.
Interior Comfort and Cargo Space
The Ram 1500 cabin is extremely comfortable, with lots of cubby storage and enough space to accommodate the largest number of passengers. The creature comforts in the cabin make the Ram feel like travelling in a luxury vehicle instead of a truck, especially in the new range-topping Tungsten trim.
Most trims have upscale features such as heated and ventilated seats and panoramic sunroofs. The higher-spec trims have authentic wood accents and premium leather surfaces. The Tungsten boasts 24-way adjustable quilted, leather-trimmed front seats with a massage function and an exceptional 23-speaker Klipsch audio system.
Performance Features
Dodge has dropped the traditional HEMI V8 for a twin-turbo, ‘Hurricane’ 3.0-litre SST (straight six-turbo) motor. This motor is offered in two specifications: the standard motor, which makes 420 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, or a high-output specification, making 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque. These motors are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Ram has retained the 3.6-litre Pentastar eTorque V6 motor, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, for the Tradesman and Big Horn trims for those who prefer the traditional. The standard SST motor is optional on those two trims but standard on the Laramie and Rebel trims. The Limited, Limited Longhorn and Tungsten trims all have high-output SST, which is the standard motor.
The Ram 1500 maintains its impressive ride quality thanks to the standard coil springs at the rear rather than the stiffer leaf springs. Trims that offer air suspension have adjustable ride heights, improving off-road performance.
Safety and Driver Assistance Features
The Ram 1500 comes equipped with over 100 safety and driver assistance features. Driver assistance features include traffic sign recognition to identify upcoming traffic signs. These are displayed on the driver’s display and the heads-up system. There is also a drowsy driver alert, in which the vehicle will identify micro-sleep and warn the driver of the danger.
The 1500 is also fitted with the Advanced Driver Assistance System, a group of technologies that assist with mundane driving tasks. These include Active Lane Management to ensure the vehicle stays in its lane, Evasive Steering Assist to avoid a frontal collision, Intersection Collision Assist to interpret the dangers at intersections and alert the driver, and Autonomous Park Assist to park the vehicle automatically.
The vehicle also has the option for Hands-Free Driver Assistance, which comes with a paid subscription for the first three years. This technology only works on roads that have been pre-mapped for the service.
